laumk7
I lost my phone earlier this week, so called subscriber who duly locked and blocked my phone from being used and sent me out a replacement handset. Problem arises that tesco just phoned and my handset has potentially been handed in (dunno yet, but the description matches). I dunno what to do now as potentially I now have 2 handsets
Russ
Your 'old' handset belongs to your phone company now so if it is your phone you need to tell them as you won't be able to use it now anyway (it'll have been locked using its IMEI number)
jeebowhite
I have wondered if that was possible, to find the phone and use it again...

You 'might' be able to get the phone unblocked by phoning your phone company but I wouldn't bank on it.
Ford_Man
Could the phone company unblock if they wanted to?
Russ
Could the phone company unblock if they wanted to? possibly but I'd expect if they've provided a replacement phone then they would ask for it back.
GMX
not if its been blocked by your phone company, they block the IMEI number which cannot legally be changed. Isn't it within your country, a blocked IMEI can be used in another country, but not sure how legal that is. You see joblots of blocked IMEI phones for export only, on wholesaler/exporter web sites
laumk7
It was my phone, it was found outside in a puddle though, it still works, but not properly - can it be saved and save myself setting up a new handset? All my photos and music / contacts everything is on this phone

Even if I took out insurance they would charge an excess if anything happened.
laumk7
50 excess on the insurance and yes I notified provider who told me to phone back during office hours
Stoney871
The IMEI will be blocked by the provider rendering it unable to be linked to any network (bricking). You need to inform the provider you have located it and they will either tell you to send it to them and use your new one or get you to send your old one to them to assess if it can be fixed. You should be able to recover and transfer all data and profiles from your old phone to your new one (if both Samsung0 by using the KIES software on your computer. http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/
