Bathroom Heater.

Featured Replies

We have a radiator in there but still cold for my elderly father who I look after, its on the morning when cold.

I have looked around for a electric legal heater what you can put into the room.

We live on the end so get the cold from the wall and also we have a Wetroom with one of those

Auto fans in.

An ideal one would be like a rechargable / electric one if there if such a thing

as will only be used for a hour or so in the morning.

Could you not put the shower on for 5 minutes before you actually need to use it?

It aint for the water side and he cant get under the shower so its like a wash from sink or just a bit

with the shower.

Mainly for room temp as he feels the cold a lot but i know there are so many rules now what you can use in

the bathroom,i will leave it on while he washes so don't want it to short out and stuff of blow the trip switch.

Where a wet room is concerned your struggling for an electric heater - regulations for a wet room are different to that of a standard bathroom. Zones 0 and 1 are different and anything withing zone 1 will need to have a minimum rating of IP X4 iirc. Sounds like your radiator is under sized though.

Cant you fit a bigger rad? Is it an actual radiator or a towel heater? My last house had a radiator rather than my usual towel heaters and there was a massive difference in the heat it gave out. If its a radiator already then could you swap it out to a double panel one to kick out more heat. Being the end house wont make any difference if you have good enough rads. My house is detached with all the windows permanently on vent and its still warm because i over specced the rads when i replaced them all last year.

Well its a council house and when they did the wet room they changed the whole lot round so as for bigger

rad it would either hit the toilet one end or door the other end.

we have no bath as it was getting in and out the problem and the rad was never changed in size as it cant be.

i would get one fitted after speaking to the council if that was an option but its knowing which ones to look at.

I know they use to do those storage heaters that plug in and heat over night then unplug, think they were Heat bricks

in them but there stupid prices and not portable anyway.

There are plenty of tall rads now that might help you out then if you cant go wider. Is it a single panel rad? I take it the TRV is on maximum and there is no air in the rad stopping it all heating up?

For heat towel radiators are useless. What kind of radiator is fitted now? Single or double panel? You could get a triple panel too. Something the same width but taller too.

Yeah a plain towel rail is useless at room heating, but you can get tall radiator/towel rail combos, which at least look like they have more purpose than just a tall rad imo.

Although if it is council, they'll probably go for the cheapest option.

I have a mirror over my towel rail, I got a bit too close last week looking in the mirror and touched the little fella (i dont like to brag ;) )on the towel rail, i nearly screamed at how hot it was! How it doesnt heat the room and yet still felt like i had molten lava on little Wes i will never know!

It's because the towel rails have a small surface area, there are no fins or undulations to help dissipate the heat.

That's why the combos are quite good...

i have a towel rad in my bathroom it useless i going back to a double rad more heat

I have a Dimplex fan heater high up on the wall of my bathroom, but not sure if that is legal these days?

i don't think you can fit anything like that anymore the rules have all changed

I thought so. Insane if you ask me!

safety wet hands and all that :)

safety wet hands and all that :)

But you don't touch the heater, it has a pull cord!

its a just in case

Its only a single rad and i checked for air and all clear, about 2 years ago they cleaned the whole system out

like a big machine they put on the boiler tank and blasted it all out from the system from the tap on the rad

downstairs and the crap/black stuff was amazing but took about 4 hours to do so all rads are clear.

Its only a small wet room and going taller would hit the rail above.

I was just looking at some sort of heater i could put in as there will be no water on it or steam as if shower was on

it would come out.
