2008 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCI Starting problem

Featured Replies

Hello, I have an issue with my 2008 Focus 2.0 TDCI.

Intermittently it will start up for 1 second and then die, as though its being turned off. Try again and it starts just fine. Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem before and knows the solution ?

Here is a link to a video of it having the issue.

Thanks

Could be a fuel filter issue, perhaps the fuel is being starved momentarily whilst the pressure recovers.

Instead of starting the car straight away, put the key in, turn the car to electrics, and wait 5 to 10 seconds, then go back to zero and repeat once more. Then try start the car.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have done this, doesn't seem to make any difference, and also changed the fuel filter and filter seal now.

I have just found another thread that points me to the Anti Shudder valve, the problems sound exactly the same , so going to check this out tonight when I finish work.

Fingers crossed!

good luck!
