I am fitting a new timing chain kit, can anyone advise where (inside or outside) the triangular gasket is fitted for the engine mount and if inside how it is held in place while fitting the cover.

i have purchased a replacement cover and removed the tin gasket stuck to the inside, ensuring that the cover is straight and not twisted by using a flat steel rule.

    Get some bolts of the same thread, chop off the heads and screw in lightly, the gasket will stay in place while you fit cover , then unscrew after

    Or studs if if you have some.
