Hello my wife has the focus 2011 diesel and today it will not go into gear when the engine is running?

But will when ignition is turned off no warning of anything on the dash and all the fluids are fine! Could this be the clutch on its way out?

Any help would be great.

    No warning or any thing just would not engage gear when the car is running good job she wasn't far from home!

    It wasn't slipping it was fine until she went from 3rd gear down to 2nd and wouldn't engage after
