Mondeo 2.0 tdci power/smoke problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys new to this site sure this has been posted before but here I go...! 😊

Just got myself a cheep mondeo 2.0 tdci through trade! Knowing there is a few bits to sort out and a few quid to b spent!!

I would like to map the car mainly for better fuel consumption and a bit more poke but not until I'm happy every thing is how it should b!!

On first looks the engine is putting out black smoke and I don't get to many ppl tail gating me lol.. and also it feels to b lacking in power and the engine is slietly rattly at low end.. so far I have cleaned the Egr valve and pressure tested it.. but it keeps coming up with engine fault code.. I have now part blanked the Egr valve bit still fault code but power has increased!! Turbo have cleaned the turbo with wynn turbo cleaner twice (not taken turbo off tho)  I've ran fuel cleaning/injector cleaner thro tank and have been using BP ultimate diesel this all seams to b helping but still smoking and doesn't seam to have the power/torque that it should OK it's only the 115 but the 1.6 auto estate focus I was using seamed to have a lot more power than this??? And also my fuel mpg is avriding around 35mpg witch isn't great for a diesel! !! This includes motor way and town driving

Any help would b appreciated and thanks to anyone reading thro this and replying cheers...!!! 😀😀😀

Try looking for a spilt in the pipes leading to and from your turbo.

I had the same problem on a 130bhp Mondeo.

Good luck.
