DPF or not?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2005 2.0 TDCI Zetec Focus. I initially though that this engine/year of Focus did not have a diesel particle filter fitted. However a couple of weeks ago I took my car to Ford to have the cooling fan recall work done and according to the paperwork they gave me it says that my car does have a dpf. However the paperwork also said my car was 2.0 Ghia when it is infact a 2.0 Zetec.

Can anyone out there confirm whether or not this engine/year combo has a dpf?

Thanks,

The Gimp

The Focus 1.6TDCI has DPF

Also the 2.0TDCI Powershift

i remember reading someone elses post about this, if you look at the vehicle detail plate inside the drivers door opening, the bottom left little box has a letter in it, if it has an 'S' then the car doesnt have dpf, not sure what letter it would have if it did have one.

Hi there.I too am trying to work out if i have a DPF on my 55 plate 2.0 TDCI Ghia Saloon.

Ive had a look towards the front of the exhaust today and cannot see anything that looks like the pictures of DPF's ive seen. All i can see is the below. Does anyone know if this a DPF, or if my car has one? I am seriously hoping not as my car is coming upto 75,000 miles. DPF replacement time! Thank you in advance!

In my opinion the part on the photo is exhaust flexible pipe.

I agree dont think a DPF was fitted to 2005 mondeo's

Thanks All for your replies. Very helpful and glad to see that it appears I am NON DPF... what a massive releif.

The 1.6 TDCI with with 90hp has NO DPF, as far as i know.

The 1.6 TDCI 109 HP (80kw) and all 2.0 engines have dpf (starting with late 2006). This is located in front of the engine beetwen the radiator and the engine. If you look just below the turbo enclosure you will se it. It has a DPF + catalyzer system.

The same engine is fitted on a lot of cars like Volvo, Citroen, Peujeot, Mazda, and the mini cooper. They all have different positions for this, but on Fords, and Volvos, it's where i told you.
