The engine is remaining cool? How do you know? Does the gauge say so? If you are new to car ownership, I'll tell you this: The device that works the gauge (the sender) needs to be submerged in coolant to work. If coolant boils or leaks away then it will give a false cool reading while the engine cooks itself to death. If you are losing coolant then you have a LEAK and if you don't find it you will have a big bill sooner rather than later. If you do, you will have a small bill. The likelihood is a rubber pipe, look for antifreeze stains. How much are you losing from the header tank?

Thanks for the reply. It started losing coolant from the header tank quickly and once I noticed the leak I’ve stopped driving it to prevent any damage. It’s booked in with a mechanic this so hopefully it can be fixed 👍

Just bought a 3 door 1600 zetec S on 120k for £1600  fair price i thought !

within 1 day the ignition switch failed all dash lights keep coming on & then 2 days after that the Gear linkage broke on the Gearbox end  now need to source a new gear linkage !

Is this a common problem ?

& where can i source parts that wont cost me more than i paid for the car !

Any 'Auto Salvage' or 'Vehicle Recycle Centre' posh names for scrapyard will have the parts you need. Just do a search on Google to find one near you.

Oh !! BTW nearly forgot, the engine is programmed to self destruct at 125,000 miles

Hi!
I’ve been scouring the dark dusty corners of Google for an hour and I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for.
I have a 2006 5dr Mk6.5 Fiesta Ghia, and (until my finances are a little more stable for a younger model) I absolutely adore it. During a short drive today I heard an on off low rumbling noise so when returning home I had a look for anything obvious but only found this mess under the near side rear arch.

Unfortunately I’m a complete novice and have no idea what I’m looking at, and I try to be prepared when going to the garage. I don’t know any car people to ask advice. I’m not sure this is the source of the noise as the noise is new, and this definitely isn’t. Safe to drive until next payday? Or 2 years until the magic 125k mile self destruct? It already has 113k 😬 Still has a bounce and doesn’t knock when going over a bump 🤷‍♀️ I’m tempted to poke at the loose bits in daylight tomorrow.

Hey all, I have a MK6 fiesta 1.25. I was thinking on doing a plus one on wheels size from 1954516 to 2054017, I am aware the rolling radius is near enough the same. However would they fit and not rub on the inside of the wheel arch?? If they do how would I get away from it? A spacer? If so what size??

Yes they'll rub.  The ST comes with steering rack limiters to prevent the wheel being turned too far.  Rack limiters can be retrofitted to the other models.  Then you'll get a terrible turning circle to go with the rough ride and reduced acceleration that the 17s create.  Honestly wouldn't bother.  I didn't even like the standard 17's on the ST.

I am having problems with my fiesta 1.6 ghia, no brake lights, I have checked the fuses changed the black brake pedal switch  ( checked for power to my pedal switch) for a new one, there is also a blue pedal switch attached but as I don't have cruise control, could this be the problem

Does the centre brake light work?

Have you replaced the bulbs?
