Dash Cams

Featured Replies

Hello, I have recently purchased my car a 2014 Ford Fiesta Zetec, I was wondering whether you guys thought dash cams were worth it. My car sits in a supermarket car park all day and I only do around 10000 miles a year. Was wondering if it was worth me investing in a dash cam for my car and if you lot think they are any good?

Thanks :D

Quite a few of us have dash cams on here. If you can afford to get one, I'd say to just go for it as having video evidence in the event of a crash can always be handy. Some insurers do offer a discount on your premium if you have one fitted so it's definitely worth giving your insurer a ring to ask about it.

I personally use the Next base 512 which costs £180 at Halfords plus £20 (or £30 if you want them to fit it) for the hardwire kit which I would recommend.

I wouldn't be without mine.   Incidentally, some dash cams (mine) will instantly start recording if someone runs into your car while it's parked.   Good idea for a supermarket car park I think.

I got a Nextbase 402G and have been pretty happy with it, after only having it a few weeks some prat pulled out in front of me and grazed my bumper after I had come to a standstill. The insurance could not argue with the footage and my car got repaired and a hire car and my extra premium paid back to me. So it was well worth having it in already saved more than the cost of buying it.

Without it I would have ended up paying to fix my own car especially as the other guy drove off, or at best it would probably have been put down as a 50/50 without video evidence.

Parking mode is a must imho as if someone hits your car while it is parked then you know usually who has done it and then can take action.

There a great bit of kit but one i thing i would always look at is try and not make it stick out if anyone walks past.

I looked for ages for the best of both worlds,to hide and good because a lot of people have had them pinched.

I have had some great footage.
