Stuck overhead storage compartment push buttons

Featured Replies

The push buttons of two of the overhead storage compartments are stuck in a fully pressed-in position. This results in the storage compartments not being fully shut and they open as I drive the car. The given push buttons press against a ratchet/pinion mechanism which seems to be ok, so I presume the problem is with the push button itself. Perhaps there is a broken spring inside it? Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Take it apart, a few screws need to be removed if I remember correctly. Theres like a rubber sleeve around the plunger/button which acts as the spring, this rubber sleeve can get misplaced and malformed which cause it not to function properly. With mine I just rotated the sleeve into a different position and it all worked well again.
