Mk7 1.6 Ti-Vct power loss.

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

When I first start my car on a morning and go to drive off the car looses power, feels like it's going to stall, then the power kicks back in again and the car shoots off forward as normal again.

I've tried setting off at various rpm's and it's always the same. This only happens when the car has been left for a good few hours (usually overnight). And is only like that for the first 100 meters or so, it usually only does it on the first 'set off' of the day, it's never happened once the car is warm.

Has anybody else experienced this? I can't remember if the cars always done this or if it's a new thing.

never had that in mine... i'd definitely be phoning up my dealership.

This happened also to me few times, same problems have also 1,25l engines (at leasst according to one forum in Slovakia, at least 5 cars). What helped was 98 RON petrol, or after starting the engine to wait 3-4 seconds and than start to move, if you start to move immediately after starting engine you`ll probably loss power and jump like a goat :D No idea what is causing this, also dealer couldn`t help, but, ask yours and let us know ;)

I use 99 ron petrol already, and I've tried waiting a while before setting off. Hmmmm, trip to the dealer may be in order!

Cheers guys :)

I sometimes get a similar problem with my Corsa - it seems to judder as you drive off in the wet or cold winter months. Not sure why it does this though and different driving techniques don't seem to solve it.

I have this problem too, did you found out what's causing it?

Cheers!

Mine did this for quite sometime but i have to say it's stopped. the only change i did was take out my K&N Air filter back to Ford stock filter. Needs a clean and i haven't done it yet. I also went from sainsbury&tesco mixed together to just BP 95oc.

I'm assuming you'll be in first gear and all of a sudden the car will just jerk forward. More noticible during first take off.

Just to note i also dumped a full bottle of sTp fuel cleaner on an empty tank for a couple of miles.

The problem is exactly as you explained in your post, after leaving the car for a few hours, right after starting the engine first revs / 100m of driving there's loss off power now and then.

I am using all stock filters, nothing custom, servicing it in Ford only. I think it happens more when often when the weather is colder.

After doing some research, one of the suggestions is the air intake sensor or I'm not sure how it's called.

I will update the thread if I find a solution :)

Thing is problem persists also while driving on LPG (but existed long before I installed it).

Cheers!
