Ford Fiesta 2005, won't start / no dash info?

Featured Replies

Hey folks, hows things?

Got this automatic (might be important, its the one with the automatic, but you can shift it if you want setup), Fiesta that will no start.

Charged the battery (12.7v ish), checked the fuses, when you put the key in and turn it, nothing happens.

No clicks, no spins, the power comes on (radio turns on, can use heater, etc) but on the dash nothing comes up (bar a few lights, oil, doors, airbag one).

Any idea what it could be?

Thanks for any help.

If its the Durashift gearbox you have a number of expensive options, the shifter's have failed or there is a break in the wiring loom. If the shifter loses it's position it will prevent the engine starting.

Hey there,

Googled "durashift" and the shifter is the same.

So can I not just get a new shifter unit thing?

Oh, oh!

So I plugged the battery back in to check the voltages here and there. I then proceeded to blow up my multimeter.

So, I'm standing over the engine bay, swearing and I hear "bzzt, .... bzzt"

The thing below the battery (the automatic clutch jobby) was moving and buzzing. So I assume that thing is stuck. Had a google and it seems to be a known issue.

So, do I take it off and fix it, or just replace the part?

I have the same problem. Fusion semi auto won't start, no N displayed in gear indicator. Actuator removed and checked, all moving freely. Put voltage across pins 1 and 6 of actuator motors and rods move full stroke. I also removed the wiring loom, inspected and continuity check.

The issue seems to be the starting circuit needs to see N before it will allow to start. Where is the N signal generated from, the gear lever or the durashift unit?

Hi - all Durashift posts related to let`s say Fiesta 2007 are relatively old but maybe anyone will replies. So my Fiesta 2007, 1.4 petrol with ASM system. I have the same symptoms as Osaka84 above. I had read a lot of articles, topics (mainly here) and saw a few YT videos. What I did till now:

- both actuator motors checked - so they are OK (select & shift)

- Ford technician checked the harness between the motors and TCM - no problems found (all connectors are clean, no corossion, no short/open circuit between wires). His idea was possible TCM electronics failure (but he was not sure and I forgot to ask for the diagnostic codes output...)

- battery OK (and to be sure - it had been charged to full)

Well - as soon as I put the key into the box and will turn to position I, the only one Transmission motor is engaged (still dunno whether Select or Shift one; maybe it is not important at this moment). I dunno whether both motors should make some activity prior ignition and I dunno whether I should hear the clutch motor to be running. Anyway I would like to know how the system should behave if it works correctly. As I did my own disgnostic with DELPHI tool I got these error codes: U0101, U0001, U0121, U2510, U0155, P1000. I deleted them after that and the only P1000 remained there (maybe the previous errors were still due to my cables check and measurements - with electrical activity). I am thinking whether it may be good idea to check the clutch motor due the brushes problems described. Or this leads almost to 99% to electronical problem inside TCM itself?

Many thanx for your answer!

Regards, Pavel (Czech republic)
