Mondeo 2.2 TDCI electrical problem

Featured Replies

I had what I thought was a dead battery so charged it for a couple of days, refitted & nothing apart from the rev counter / speedo spinning around then going back to zero.

I purchased a new battery & absolutely nothing.

is there a main fuse or relay causing no power getting through ? or is it the starter ?

any idea's ?

Car is a 2007 Mondeo TDCI 2.2 diesel estate

cheers Mark ...

Probable bad earth somewhere - start with the battery connection to the body.

It could be a lot of things, from earth connections & fuses to the immobiliser.

You should go through checking various electrical functions from sidelights & headlights to all the indicator lamps on the instrument cluster.

It could just be earth, like Mark (above) says, including the earth to the engine.

Then there are relays & fuses related to the ignition key, and a starter relay.

If it was the starter motor, there will usually be a click from the motor as the solenoid pulls in, or tries to pull-in.

If you don't have the manual, this may help:
