Turning off auto boot locking on a 64 plate Focus

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I've just bought a 64 plate ford focus Zetec s and I'm just wondering if there's a way of turning off the feature that automatically locks your boot every time you shut it? It's just a bit of a pain that I've gotta take the keys out every time I want to get in the boot.

Cheers

do you not have a boot open button on your key fob ? sorry for my ignorance but mines key less so you can open the boot without getting the fob out.

just thought about this,, you'll still have to take the fob out your pocket to press the boot open button,,, doh

I think you would need something like Forscan OBD reader to go into the detailed settings to disable that feature. Its not something you can do from the dash settings.

I could be wrong as I am going on my focus here.

Surely if the car is unlocked you open the boot with the tailgate button? My boot doesn't lock every time I close it unless I've locked the car. Then the fob is used to unlock

Maybe I'm thinking too much into this😄

On my 2013 Focus MK3 the boot is automatically locked when the engine is running. When the engine is running the boot can only be opened using the key fob. when the engine is switched off the boot can be opened by both the switch on the bootlid and the key fob.

Next to this my car has autolocking. All doors are automatically locked above 5 MPH and unlock if 1 of the doors are opened from inside the car. When the autolocking system is active the boot can also only be opened by the key fob.

I'm a bit confused as to why there is a separate button on the key fob of my mondy when all I have to do is be next to my car and I can open the boot!

You can pop the boot open for someone else, rather than giving them the fob, or having to go over to the car to open it.

Ahhhh. Didn't think of that. Nice one Figgis.
