Engines management light

Featured Replies

I recently had my steering rack and pump changed on my 2 L , 2011 c max. The garage gave me the car back then the engine management light was on. He explained that the exhaust part next to the steering rack needs replacing.....does anyone know what it is called as he has no blooming idea?? but he is fitting it for free and I can't afford to go anywhere else.

Can anyone help.

Hi Rachel,

Unfortunately you have not really given enough info to make a really useful answer.

If petrol, there could be an Oxygen sensor, or the Cat. there. These can give EML (engine management light) on errors. Also leaks into the exhaust can cause EML problems.

If diesel, there could be a DPF there, again it can cause problems.

There will be codes stored in the car, if the EML is on. These help identify the problem. Scanners are cheap these days, any generic OBD2 scanner will reveal most standard engine related codes.

With engine type, and a DTC code or two, it is quite likely someone will be able to help. Without that, there are just too many possibilities on a modern car.

Peter.
