Hi mate firstly the main lights will work but for the submarine light you will need 2feeds , one from sidelight .the other is earth. Basically when u turn sidelight on whatever is on . Their is a black wire for earth which can be taken from front courtesy light loom. I fitted these in all my cars. Mk1.5 back then , lads fiesta & its standard on mk2.5

Focus Titanium. I also fitted mk2 mondeo auto dimming rear view mirror on the fiesta & mk1.5 focus.

The feed would be ideal from light switch.

I didnt , On the mk2.5 tianium focus its standard .i onlyhave on front centre one is led one. I'll paste pic on end of this reply. But on mk1.5 focus & fiesta mk6 it was taken from light switch. Bear in mind mk2.5 is different color wires to other earlier models. Mk1 was green/red, fiesta was orange i think.

Thanks James

I took a look at the tutorial by Haz93 but could not open it up as it said it did not exist but your other link did show me the wire in need to connect to

No problem.  Strange it opens for me no problem.  The Haz93 guide can be found on this site anyway.

All you need is one wire from the submarine light to the back of the headlight switch.

The connector on the back of the courtesy light is pretty small so so a small bayonet connector is needed (about 4mm IIRC).

You need to run the wire from there down your A pillar and connect it to the wire on pin16 (number plate light feed) of the headlight switch so it comes on with sidelights.

Thanks mate I was hoping to to take a feed from fuse box do I need to use a piggy back fuse? Glad to know I'm not the only one up at 5.00 in the morning lol

No other connections needed at all.

Just run the wire straight from the courtesy light to the headlight switch and you're done.

I'm up at all weird times, nature of the job.

Also when 3 dogs want out for a wee at the same time I get no rest until they're sorted out and settled down again.

I crimped on a female spade connector to a bit of wire when doing mine  The only annoying thing was the female connector was a bit to lose for the male on the dome light ha.   Was a bugger to keep them connected.

Just squeeze the sides of the female connector with pliers and it will tighten up a bit.

Just generally curious, what is the point of these "submarine" lights? Is it just for a visual effect or is there some functional reason behind em?

It's more aesthetic than anything else but it does shine down onto the gearstick area which can help in dark conditions.

Hi, I've made a installation guide on youtube for people who want to install the submarine lights using the dome lights from a Ford Fiesta.

Got submarine lights in my ST but their effect is pretty minimal I’ve always found. Supplemented mine with a red LED strip run along the top of the ashtray opening door - fed off the illumination supply for the cigarette lighter socket which used to live next to the ashtray compartment.
