engine management light

Featured Replies

I had my car idling for half an hour this morning before driving and my engine management light has come on.i know that I have been told that my cooling fan doesn't work so have been warned that long journeys and traffic jams could cause a problem.i wondered if this would cause this to happen before I take it to the garage for a diagnostic test which I can't afford.cheers.

Hello and welcome Teresa

If you know your cooling fan does not work, do you think it was a good idea to let it idea for half an hour?

Best bet would be take car to garage and just ask for the fault codes to be read and recorded for you. Then come back and post any codes you have been given.

I couldn't get it to defrost this morning as it was unusually cold.no it was a !Removed! stupid idea to let it run but I had forgotten all about the fan.i will take it and get it looked at.😣 I know as much about cars as I do about brain surgery.cheers for the welcome.😊

Hi Teresa welcome, yes best bet take it to garage, defrosting a car in the morning is equivalent of basically stuck in traffic with the engine running, the car will soon want to cool down.  Hope you soon get it fixed

First thing to do however (for the fan), check the fuse!

Second thing, the car (if it is a 2016 model) should still be under warranty, & the management light certainly shouldn't be coming on on such a new car!

It's a 2003.i hadn't edited the info.its going to the mechanic in the morning.he seemed to think it could be the exhaust sensor or something like that.we will get the code and go from there.this is the second automatic I've had.my ex took the other and I managed to get another the same year and it's a brilliant car,as was the other one.

How did you get on?
