Hi all

my 59 plate focus throws out black smoke and looses power when I excelerate. When the engine malfunction light comes on it drives fine but still is under powered. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Many thanks for any help or suggestions.

    normally with a diesel , black smoke normally indicates a split  turbo hose ,quite common, thats where you need to start. the 1.8tdci hose that splits most common is the right angled one as it goes into inlet manifold (located on the left of engine ) you may not see the split but feel for a split with your hand . if that one isnt split then check the other ones. engine light may be on due to boost pressure low.
