Focus ST 225 Wont Start/Go into Standby

Featured Replies

Hey new to this site but ill get straight to the point.

yesterday morning after starting my Focus st 2010 as normal and driving a short distance to a family members house, after spending 20 minutes and coming back out to drive home as i started my car is screamed Engine Malfunction at me so i instantly turned off the car.

After a minute i try to start the car again it makes the ignition noise but wont start then my lights wont turn off my hazards wont turn off.
Since this I've disconnected the battery to get the lights off and try and prevent that from going flat.
it wont detect my key to start the engine or will the radio work or the lights inside the cabin work.

I,m thinking it cud be a battery problem but i'm confused as i had the battery changed last year surely it shouldn't be dead already??

Any help or feedback is appreciated

Hi Steven, did you get your car sorted.

just because you replaced the battery there is no saying it is good, anything you can buy new, used can go wrong, modern cars with all their electrics do require a good battery and tip top charging system.

if you have access to a battery tester that should be your first test, if power is good look at all the connections around your battery and charging system.

Try and borrow a code reader off someone and then post any displayed DTC's on here. If you cant borrow one then they can be bought on ebay from as little as £10. Check the battery terminals are tight and also check the passenger footwell fuse box to see if its been knocked. Give all of the multiplugs a push as they are prone to getting knocked loose and you might as well check fuses why you are there.
