Focus 1.0 125hp ecoboost engages limp home when I hit 3000rpm in 1st gear

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a ford focus 1.0 ecoboost 125hp (2013). Recently almost every time I accelerate in 1st gear and go above 3000rpm the limp home cuts in and an engine malfunction come up on the screen (no code, just suggests a service).

Accelerating in other gears above 3000 rpm causes no issues, and car otherwise drives well.

One time the limp home didn't cut in, and nor was there a message, but the was an almighty bump from the engine and I immediately backed off the power.

Anyone had any similar issues/have any idea what the problem could be.

(unable to get to a garage due to work currently. Will book in asap but may be in a couple of weeks)

Thanks

could be anything really, needs a code reader on it to see whats playing up, normally its the turbo recirc valve or upstream hego sensor. youwont be able to diagnose until you have the dtc's.
