High mileage mk3 st ???

Featured Replies

Hi guys new to the site and new to owning a Ford , I'v recently purchased a 2012 mk3 focus st-3 with 90000 on clock car completely standard, was abit hesitant to buy but when I went to test drive the car I fell in love instantly !. Also the price was good and came with full Ford service history and one female previous driver and 6 months silver warranty from warranty wise , but now I've paid for the car and waiting to pick it up in a couple of days I've got friends and family saying I've made a huge mistake and the car will go wrong . I know Ford engines are reliable but are they reliable at 90000 on them ,  are the mk3 st's know to have any problems at higher mileage info would be appreciated thanks Andy

don't be fooled by the "one female owner" bit - doesn't mean she treated it poorly, but doesn't mean she treated it well, either. Treatment of a vehicle is not gender specific. Just an easy way to fool your mind to make you think it was gently treated for a quicker sale. Just like back in the day of "one careful elderly owner"...that always rode the clutch and saw most of the cars miles in 2nd gear. Just an easy way to get your attention.

90k is a lot of mileage for a 4 year old car. But it might just be a business use car which has seen many motorways. If its been serviced properly and no expense spared then you should be in good hands. The interior might be a bit shot, but nothing that cant be replaced easily enough. Just have it inspected when you get it - have it fully serviced by someone you trust having all the fluids done etc and you can tell pretty quickly whether you need to return it, pronto.

I've seen some ST's kicking about post 150k miles and still going strong.
