Bonnet issue with replacement key

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2005 Focus (the newer type). Like an idiot I lost my only key last year and had to get a new one done by locksmiths! It all works fine but for the fact I can't get into the bonnet. The new key will turn in both directions but nothing happens... it was fine before.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

Sounds like the lock is broken to me

This happened to me only last week. Sounds like the anti tamper mechanism has disengaged the lock. Have a look here - http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/35338-guide-to-fixing-common-focus-bonnet-lock-problem/

That didnt work for me but i managed to get it open by pushing back very firmly on the grille whilst simultaneously turning the key.
