Ford Fiesta cuts out randomly?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I've had my engine warning light on around about 7,000 miles now. But most recently the car cuts out when the engine is cold, but starts up straight away with no issue. This is happened about 4/5 times now, a few days back after the engine being completely warm, cut out again. I've been told my Catalytic converter isn't the greatest, but that wouldn't be the problem? Maybe the ICV? Don't want to spend loads on the car as the car probably isn't worth it.

Ford fiesta 2002 LX 1388cc , 91700 miles.

Thanks!!

Sam

Hi Sam. Do you have access to a code reader to find out what code is being generated when the engine warning light is triggered? They are available from about £10 on ebay and are a great bit of kit to have. It really is the starting point to be honest as otherwise it would be complete guess work diagnosing the fault compared to reading the code.
