Hi, my radiator on the above Focus has a long piece with fins attached (approx 1/2inch w x 2 foot l x 1/4 inch h, hanging out of the bottom of it. 

It will slide in and out of the bottom of the radiator, but catches along the way.

I think it may be there to protect the bottom of the radiator, but am not sure.

I have no coolant leak/s.

My question is, do I just leave as is with the piece in, or remove it altogether and just carry on, or should I replace the radiator completely? 

Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks!
