I have just purchased a 2011 Ford Focus privately and it is leaking every time it rains into the drivers footwell. I have taken it to local garage and they say they cannot find the leak and main dealer wants £360 to find it. Is it worth paying excess for a new windscreen or is it likely to be something else? Anyone else experienced this problem?

    Make sure all rubber seals around the door are pushed down properly and evenly it could just be a split, I'd say just dry it out and when its about to rain again sit in your car and wait, or better on a dry day use a hose pipe and go over the car with someone. For the mean time I'd purchase a few bags of silica gel just to keep it moderately dry stop your car smelling damp.

    Has it had a stereo install fitted and removed, amplifier etc? There might be a grommet removed or hole drilled in the bulkhead. As said above, the hosepipe will be your best bet to find the leak. Sit it on the roof trickling and then wait for the leak to start and hopefully you will be able to trace it back. My wifes car was leaking due to perished panel seam sealer, i found it with the hosepipe.
