Fuse keeps blowing

Featured Replies

Hi,

i have a 1.4tdvi fusion and the reverse light fuse keeps blowing as soon as you put it into reverse.

Please can someone help me trace/find the issue and fix it.

Thanks

I'd start with the bulb, remove it and then put the car in reverse. If it is fine then it is either the bulb or the wiring so replace a new bulb and try again. If it blows again then it has to be the wiring or the socket itself. Give the socket and connections inside the socket a gentle scrub with some wire wool and try again. A working bulb can still produce a problem.

I did as you said and with whole back light unit removed it still blew the fuse. So I disconnected the reverse switch on the gearbox and it hasn't blown yet.

However the area around it and including the switch and wiring harness are covered in oil and crap.... could this be the actual reason it keeps blowing.?

Ill get another switch and clean the engine and wiring up and see what happens.
