Hard to go into reverse! Help plz!

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Its my first time here. I just brought a mondeo st tdci 2007 with 114k on the clock 3 weeks ago. What a lovely fully loaded car it is. When i brought it days later the cluth went. So i got it replaced and done the flywheel aswell (LUK).

Now 2 weeks on and im realising its getting very difficult to get it onto reverser gear! Rest gears are ok but still feel a very slight stiffness in 1st gear but generally its ok. But putting it in reverse does require some force. The weird thing is when i start it (cold weather) it goes into reverse easily as it should do. But as soon as the cars warmed up thats when its hard to get it into reverse gear! I called my local mechanic and he recons it may be the actual gearbox!!!

Any thoughts? Thanks for your replies.

Forgot to add that in the past week since this problem the mpg is dropping everyday by 0.1 or 0.2. Im on 25.2mpg!!!!

Sounds more like a gearbox oil or linkage issue to me.

Are you using the computer to gauge your mpg?
