Differences between Red/Black Edition and Standard Zetec S

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was wondering if any of you knew of any major differences between my Red Edition and my friends standard zetec s.

I had a go of his last night and his clutch feels a lot lighter and also his steering, he also mentioned how my car felt "heavier" harder to steer and the clutch was stiffer? Obviously the power difference is slightly different as mines has slightly more BHP but what else is different?

Slightly thicker head gasket and a factory map. I think the gearboxes are also slightly different but will have to get someone to double check that.

In terms of the steering and clutch; they're all the same. They will feel different due to different driving styles etc. Did you both get them from new or second hand?

Cheers for the reply Tom. Both brand new. His is actually a panther black like yours.

It'll come down to driving styles that have been applied to both cars. One may have more worn tyres, tracking out or something similar. Again with the clutch it's down to how it gets used. A lot of people sit at the traffic lights in first with their foot pushing the clutch in until the lights go green.

It's all down to how they've been driven mate, no two cars will feel the same

What engine is in his?

My dad has a 140 PS Zetec S, so mechanically identical to the black/red. Only differences are cosmetic.

His is 120ps

In that case, gearbox is the same, only the open diff has a different ratio

It's surprising how much difference tyre pressures never mind different brands of tyre or wear can make to the way a car steers.
