Radio interface

Featured Replies

Hi I have a focus 2006 lx and when I have a accessory plugged into my cigarette lighter it causes interference with my radio does anyone know why this happens?

It could be a grounding issue, either from the socket or the head unit itself. Could also be down to cheap eBay charging/power leads which do not have a proper ferrite filter built in. Does it happen when something is being powered by the socket or when it is just plugged in? Do you have one of the socket USB adapter things or are you using something with the 12v plug on it?

Happens when I use my sat nav and usb adapter when charging my phone it's beginning to get on my nerves lol no idea where the ground for my radio is

If the USB adapter is plugged in and the charging lead is also plugged in but not charging the phone does it interfere or is it only when it is actually drawing power? The ground wire is a black/green wire from the back of the stereo, follow it until you find the grounding point on the chassis. If it's loose or rusty then fix/clean it, if it is earthed along with anything else then there could be a ground loop so make sure its earthed on its own.
