1.4 TDCi Starting Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having a intermittant problem with a 1.4 TDCi (53 Plate 2004 model) when I turn the igition I hear the engine turn over about 3 times but then it stops (as if I have let go of the key but I haven't) I then have to turn the key back and attempt to re-start. Took about 7 attempts to get the engine to start this morning.

I've only had the car days so not sure if its related to the cold weather we are experiencing. So out of about 20 times I have started it this has happened twice.

I've searched google and all it seems to come up with is the starter cut-out thermostat being faulty? Does that sound right to you guys? If so I fix it or do I need a new starter?

Regards,

Gavin
