jmurray01 Posted April 1, 2017 Share Posted April 1, 2017 The fact it drastically improved on the second test indicates it is an issue that gets better as time goes on. If they tried it a third and fourth time it'd probably pass, but obviously that's not how the test works!! I would try giving the car a good "blast" first by doing 20-30 miles above 4,000RPM (providing your oil and timing belt are both OK) to clear out the exhaust system and then get the garage to try again. If you do lots of short journeys or the car sits for long periods of time then that can happen, or even if you just don't exceed 3,000RPM often.
