Lumpy idle, grinding/whurring noise

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to the forum! I have just purchased a 07 plate mondeo tdi mk3.

It's a wonderfully clean car with 49k on the clock.

I drove it from London to Brighton (stuck on M25 for nearly and hour) It was amazing. Really happy with it.

Fast forward 2 days and when you first start it up its a bit lumpy and I'm getting an intermittent noise like a whurrin/grinding noise when idle. The lumpy bit goes when it gets going but the noise continues, again, intermittently when waiting at junctions/roundabouts/traffic lights/traffic. Doesn't matter of clutch is in or out or if air con is on or not.

Does this sound familiar/relatively cheap to fix?

It's my first ever diesel and for the first 2 days I fell in love with it.....now I have an overwhelming sense of dread!!!

Any takers??

Cheers, Gem
