Recently broke the screen of my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.  I'm in a conundrum whether to get the screen fixed or buy a new phone.  Getting the screen replaced will cost €100, and the phone is worth about €140 if I'm lucky.  It has been a great phone for me.  There are two phones I may be interested in getting, either the One Plus One 3T, or the Galaxy A5 which retail for around the same price (I'm on prepay). What would you do,don't know what to do?

Yeah the brother and sister have the slightly older version and they are well happy with them.  I think that's what I will end up doing. I am mad with myself as the Sony was a good phone, but still probably not worth fixing. Thanks for the advice.  

But 100 quid to fix a screen bit steep. In London I can get screens fixed for Max 50 quid.

Both phones would be a step up in every area, apart from maybe the rear camera. The z3 has a 20MP camera and the other two don't come close. The eye can only see things it can see, so 20MP may be wasted on some especially those with poorer vision. Both the others offer a fast charge in on guise or another. The OP3t isn't IP rated whereas the other two are rated IP68 I think. Both are bigger than your current phone and have more RAM. The A5 runs Marshmallow same as your z3 and it also has expandable memory, which the OP3t does not. The A5 has a super AMELOD display with gorilla glass 4, the OP3t also has gg4 with a lesser AMELOD screen. The A5 has a slightly smaller screen and smaller battery than the OP3t. In all I reckon they are much and such the same spec wise, and you will notice the difference from your z3. I favour the A5 as long as it is the 2017 variant. You would keep the ability of expandable storage and the same OS, I'm a Samsung fan anyway. I did a lot of reading and comparing when I changed my SGN, I ended up getting a SGS7edge.

Yeah I thought that to.  It is was a local shop that fixes phones.  Vodafone wanted even more from me. I may try other places to see if i can get a cheaper price.

The OP3t runs Nougat beneath the OxygenOS.

I picked up the 128GB on release and there is plenty of space for my daily use. Combined with an OTG cable and any typical cloud storage you can get and I don't see the need for expandable memory (personally).

I didn't know that @Zico thanks for the info. I don't actually know how the Oxygen OS works or looks like, I'm a bit of a Samsung bloke. For me I prefer expandable memory, I can't be doing with OTG cables and having to actually do something to save stuff I want to keep haha.

To be honest OxygenOS is just One Plus's own tweaked style of Nougat. No different to whatever Samsung do to the vanilla Android version.

My previous phone was an original Nexus 5 with which the last update was to Marshmellow. Before that I had a Samsung Galaxy S2. I liked the no bloat of Nexus but wasn't going to pay £££ when Google released the Pixel phones so jumped to One Plus. The 3T is as close to vanilla Android as I can get without going Pixel.

Got the screen replaced some where else for a cheaper price. Will get the One plus phone maybe next year.  My mates think I'm crazy for not getting a new phone, but I like my Sony Xperia Z3 compact, its fast and good enough for what I do with it, ie internet, calls and text.  I definitely don't see the point of playing advanced games on a mobile.
