1988 Escort XR3i Fuel pump problem

This fuel pump was renewed about two years ago, should still be good.  One day it will operate next day it will not, obviously there is an occasional/unpredictable break in the electric supply. but I cant find it.  Any advice at all, this is driving me crazy

    Hi I'm having the same issue with my 2003 mondeo only we took the fuel line off the engine and nothing came out except a couple of drops I can't seem to work out wether to change the pump/ filter because a code reader didn't pick up any electrical faults

    My mk4 fiesta was doing the same thing when we bought it. Swapped the fuel pump from a doner mk4, and it's cured THAT problem. I just have a backwards fuel gauge now.
