1.0 Ecoboost Engine Probs / Survey **Please reply if you have one**

Featured Replies

I mentioned this in a separate thread but thought it better to start my own.  Following the recent loss of coolant and overheating of my 2013 Zetec S which is likely to require a new engine I'm keen to find out if I'm just unlucky or this is a real concern for Fiesta Ecoboost owners.

If you have a Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost engine please reply with

1) Year / Reg

2) Mileage

3) Any coolant or head gasket issues?

Thanks in advance.

2014, 28k, melted piston due to remap from AET Motorsport

New engine has 33k, no problems at all

It really is pot luck.. It's as simple as that

The chances of you having issues on a standard, unmapped car are extremely low. As has been explained the focus and the early early fiesta ecoboosts had issues with coolant, anything since is simply down to bad manufacturing, maintenence or simple bad luck as appose to bad design

uuuggggghhh

This has been covered before I'm sure you chatted about this before the 1.0 is a reliable engine only raped cars from mods are mostly fail with exception of a couple cars which are less than 1% of all produced cars.

and again engine has won the best engine of year many years in a row also....

and like other post follow my steps and yer sorted ............

64. 17/18k. No problems

Titanium x 1.0 ecoboost 125

Leaking coolant , new water pump . Another leak a month later new timing belt cover and gasket replaced as cover had warped, error codes kept coming on for the camshaft sensors. I've had 7 brand new fiestas and this was the worst by far, just unlucky I guess . No longer have the car traded in a few weeks ago for a kuga ST line as I needed something bigger

2064  14k no

2066 4.5k no

So that's at least 15 cars/ engines

And two people have had issues which weren't their own fault

And I'm sure there's alot more members without problems

It really is luck of the draw, but for the most part you're gonna be fine.

2012. 34k and no, just had the recall done on the degas pipe.

20k, early 2014,  no issues so far but very wary and keep a close eye on coolant level.

63 plate, 16k, no issues

2014, 19k miles, Bluefin since 8k.

Leaking coolant -Reservoir replaced under warranty.

Overheated on several occasions due to intermittent fan problem. Fan relay relaxed under warranty.

No problems since then but I check coolant daily and have installed an Ultragauge to monitor temps properly. Am working on a low coolant sensor. Great little engine unless it has a loss of coolant.

'63 38k. No 100hp

2015, 24k miles, no issues, Red Edition.

April 2014, 47.000 km, no issues :)
