Firstly I must say there some excellent threads etc on this forum.

I was going to add some LED strip light in to the boot , but . ..

The door open light on the dash is often on when it is shut and I recently found out the pathetic boot light isn't lighting anymore, so I checked out the threads on here for help.

It seems they mostly point to broken wires in the grommet/rubber boot and or the micro switch in the lock. 

This is what I found when I looked in the rubber connector. 

Could explain a few other niggles.

Off out to buy a few bits

All Bar 2 wires were damaged or severed.

Even the water pipe for the rear screen washer was cut almost all the way through. 

Replaced all the damaged wires, leaving the joins under the roof and feeding the other joins inside the hatch. 

The wires you see were then wrapped in electrical  self amalgaming tape rather than insulation tape.

So far the dash light for the doors hasn't been lit . . . Yet.

BUT the interior boot light still does not work! 

 

Question.

Is the catch switch the only trigger for illuminating the boot light ?
