Focus Mk2 TDCi SpringAssisters

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a bit of advice for my Mk2 Focus 1.8 TDCi Ghia.

Me and the family have taken to camping over the last 12 months. As much as a bigger car would serve our needs better, I'm quite fond of my Focus and reluctant to let go of it. With the increase in camping kit we have acquired over the last 12 months I have now got a small Erde Trailer and an Exodus roof box to assist, but I have noticed that, despite my best efforts to distribute the loads evenly, the back end of the car does hang down a bit when fully loaded.

A few years ago I had a Pug 306 (horrid motor) that had extra springs, spring assisters I believe they were called, fitted to the rear suspension to stiffen up the rear suspension and decrease the extent to which the back of the car would drop with a fully loaded car.

As much as I've looked online I cannot find anything similar for the focus.

Can anyone advise on what options (that dont break the bank) I would have to stiffen the rear suspension of my car?

Thanks in advance
