Ford Fiesta 1.6 diesel titanium tdci - DPF and fluid

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm new to this site, so any guidance appreciated.  I've just bought the above style car, secondhand with 19000 miles on the clock, and reading about DPF filters have worried me.  I should be okay, as I'll be doing daily motorway commutes to/from work, clocking up around 6000 miles a year, but the previous history i.e lack of miles for a 2012 car is concerning.

To err on the side of caution, I'll budget to replace the filter in a worst case scenario, priced it as £712 for the part, and then I'm hoping a garage (probably Halfords as I'll not take it back to Ford - too expensive) will take no more than 2 hours labour to fit.  My question here is does anyone know if this model also has a DPF which needs a fuel additive (Eolys™ fluid) to lower the ignition temperature of the soot particles so that regeneration can occur at a lower temperature. The AA guide states I'll have to pay around £200 for fluid and labour to get the additive tank refilled at 70000 miles, which would be in addition to the DPF cost, if worst case scenario was this also had to be replaced.

The car didn't come with a users manual, so I'll try to find out on this site how I get one of these as well.  Guessing I'll have to contact Ford for this.

Many thanks for any responses.

fiestas never had a dpf that needed the fuel additive so your ok . as for dpf, the later dpf systems are more tolerent of low mileges. and as for manual there are online versions on the ford owner services website
