Hi everyone I bought this 2.0 litre tdci 57 plate mondeo about 4 days ago it's the 140bhp zetec, lovely car I bought it because my 2.0 litre petrol ghia blew up haha .. anyway it seems a little strange when I start up the new mondeo it makes a whistling/high-pitched humming sound possibly the starter motor but I'm unsure if this is normal?? I'm going to attempt to attach a video of it starting up to see if you know what I'm going on about.. thanks in advance ok I can't upload the video any advice on where to upload video for people to listen??

I think if you upload it to YouTube you can copy the link into a post on here, not sure if PhotoBucket allows you to do videos I've not tried.

Diesel starter motors are often geared, to cope with the high compression ratio. Petrol ones are often direct drive to the flywheel. It does not sound bad to me. Just a different type of motor.

I don't have anything mechanical to base this on but it doesn't sound too different from what I've heard previously

thats not ok.  dont know how long it will last though, could be months or years. heard alot like that and changed a few. . its probably had a dual mass flywheel done at some point and starter wasnt changed at same time. the fine  metal dust particles when dual mass flywheel broke up contaminates the workings of starter motor.
