Mk1 1.8 Focus midrange performance

Featured Replies

Hi there. I'm thinking of chopping in my 1.8 2000 petrol Focus for a new car, trouble is I really like the mid-range grunt the old car has. My question is do modern 1.00 turbo engines perform well in that area or do they require lots of gear changing to get the best out of them?

I'd stay with it I had one of them and I regret getting rid it was quite fun to drive for a 1.8. And with 215/45/17s on it handled well to. Had American style rear lights looked good not cheap at the time when I got them.

Thanks Billy, I'm not surprised at your comments, perhaps I'll keep it until something big goes wrong.

I've got my eye on one that's been laid up for a little while 2 door green not sure on engine size but will find out when I ask if he wants to sell
