Just solved a U0001/Non start issue on a friends Mk4 Mondeo.

Couldn't read multiple modules with IDS or Forscan, dash lit up like a christmas tree.

Found one of the highspeed CAN wires had 12v being put down it which was causing the problems....CAN should be maximum 5v.

The culprit? Electric power steering pump.

The car had been to multiple garages including a ford dealership, various modules sent away for testing. Took me 6 hours with a multimeter to determine that unplugging the power steering pump would allow all other modules to work correctly and the car started.
