Please help - Ford Focus 57 TDCI Auto cutting out

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a Ford Focus 57 plate, it's 1.6 TDCI with an automatic gear box. a few months ago, the car was cutting out when coming to a stop (giveway, junction etc). The car would start immediately but when putting it into drive and moving away, it would cut out again. After leaving the car for 5 minutes or so, it would be fine and pull away without cutting out. This happened rarely (once every 2 weeks or so) but once it had gotten over the issue it would be fine for a few weeks. You could sense the issue was coming as the car would start to jerk when coming to a stop in the days prior to it cutting out.

Took it to a mechanic and no specific faults were showing. We had the fuel pump and camshaft sensor replaced as per the advice of the mechanic.

The car ran wonderfully for 1.5-2 months and then all of a sudden today, it's cut out again when coming to a stop. As per previously, the car started straight away but as soon as I put the car in drive (or reverse) it would cut out - before I even had the change to release the break. Previously it would cut out when moving away, but now it seems to have gotten even worse.

Any ideas on what it could be? No faults showing when I took it to the mechanic today.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chet.
