Wireless Dongle For ForScan

Featured Replies

Hey,

Looking to buy a wireless dongle to use with ForScan on an Android phone.

The idea is to be able to keep it in the glovebox so it's there when I need it, rather than having to be at home with the laptop to use ForScan as I do currently.

Just wondered if any of the cheaper dongles work, or if it has to be the Ford specific one listed here? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Modified-ELM327-Forscan-Ford-Focus-Mondeo-Kuga-S-Max-WIFI-ANDROID/182368145281?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Sorry I can't be much help here but wanted to say that most folk here prefer a cable and laptop. Obviously not ideal for your intended setup but personally I wouldn't want a read or write operation interrupted due to a connection drop.

I'm sure someone will be along who can recommend one they've had success with though.

Yeah I agree, I wouldn't want to be reading or writing modules wirelessly.  I've had the equivalent cable for 3 years, been used for all sorts on ForScan and ElmConfig, probably the best thing I've ever bought for the car lol!  Just wanted something that was available in a breakdown situation really, as I don't carry the laptop with me but do now have a phone that should work with these dongles.  Can't really justify £20 on one though.

I use wireless on work laptop. But I wouldn't use it programming modules.
