S Max Rear Seat Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

First post on here so thank you for any help in advance.

I have a 2009 S Max Zetec and the left rear seat slides backwards/forwards and doesn't lock into position, so when driving is dangerous.

We took it into Ford and they reckon it needs a new seat at a price of £1100.

Has anyone come across this issue before and has any advice on what to look for? Have seen second hand seats for under a £100 so could attempt to fit it myself.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks - Swifty

£1100?! I'd hope that seat would be stuffed with £20 notes for that...

I can't give direct advice I'm afraid but if it were me I would snap the hand off whoever's selling those seats.

I'd first be looking into why the seat won't lock, it may just be a sticking sprung joint which wants freeing up and lubricating.

If the seat does want replacing then it won't be particularly technical and will likely just need a decent socket set and maybe a breaker bar. I'm sure there'll be a YouTube video on it somewhere.
