2005 ford focus 1.6 stuck in 1st gear

Hello Folks,

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I was pulling out of a parking space at the weekend and put the focus into 1st gear and now the gearstick is stuck in that position.

Is this a common problem with this model?  its a mk2.

Just wondering if anybody has encountered this before.

    Does the gear lever move? If so, check under the gaiter to see if the linkage has come off at the gearstick - may also check towards the gearbox also.
