Tyre choice on Fiesta ST 150 2008 2.0

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Fiesta ST 150 2,0 with 2008 plate. So far the car has done about 64.000 miles. I am currently on my fourth set of tyres, but have to replace a front tyre again. I am still shocked that the tyres don't last long. I am not an aggressive driver, but with all speed bumps and round a bouts in Milton Keynes it is non-stop acceleration and breaking when driving. Anyhow, I am wondering what the current recommendation of premium tyres is? I am considering Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 3, but I am concerned about fuel consumption and how long hey will last.

Are they wearing evenly or are you getting one edge worn out?  It doesn't take much to bend a shock strut on the Fiesta causing a bit of extra camber and wearing an inner edge off.  Wheel alignment is also worth checking.  Though if it's the outside edge on the passenger side wheel that's probably just the roundabouts.

For wet grip and fuel economy I'd recommend Dunlop Sport BluResponse, can't say how long they'd last in ST150 profile though, low profile and extra load isn't good for wear rates.

Tom, thanks for the quick reply. It is uneven wear. I have done wheel alignment 10 months ago. Anyhow, I need 205/40/17. The BluResponse does not seem to exist in that size

Which edge/side is the wear?  Did the wheel alignment print out show camber as well?  Not much point keep replacing the tyre if there's a steering or suspension fault causing it.

Shame about those tyres not being available in that size.  I had some awful Nangkangs on my ST150, came with the car, certainly wouldn't have been my choice!  I had to replace just one so stuck with the same and didn't check others in that size.  It seems there aren't many choices and most of them are aimed more towards 'sport' driving than comfort and economy.
