Hi , I am a new member and have a 2010 Ford Focus Titanium 2.0 L Automatic . I have owned car for 6 months and have a problem with the accelerator.

When setting of from rest , most of the times it is ok but occasionally when the pedal is slowly pressed nothing happens then all of a sudden it seem to catch up and the engine revs rise rapidly.

If it was manual , it wouldn't be so much of a problem but with it being a automatic it results in some quick take offs and wheel spins if there is a bit of a loose surface - all very embarasing..

I have had to my local garage (not Ford ) . They connected it to the diagnostic machine which showed to faults and they said they didn't know.

If it was a cable operated throttle I would say it feels as though the inner cable is frayed and a strand end keeps catching . This is the neatrest description to the problem I can think of.

Has anyone any idea what the problem is.
