Sat nav disc for 2010 titanium x

Featured Replies

Hi I've just bought a petrol 2.0 titanium sport 2010, there was a sat nav problem where the maps were not loading, I Google it and found out how to remove and clean the sat nav disc, the problem is, where the disc was grubby the lens has been trying to read the same position for ages and marked the Disc ( put a permanent scratch) is there a link I can download the latest maps and burn onto a disc  instead if paying a fortune to ford for a new disc? Also the screen display turns itself off every now and then? Nothing to do with automatic closing, it just does it at random times, any ideas?

A small scratch or a circular scratch around the whole disk? the former - someone has probably tried cleaning it and damaged the disk. The latter, then something has potentially got onto the inner assembly of the drive and caused a scratch. The lens itself will not scratch the disk - the disk spins constantly when being read.

You can try a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste. Liberally apply to a damp disk (fingers seem to be fine), then wash off and dry from inside to outside. This may or may not work, and has the potential to damage the disk further, just be warned.

It’s a mark completely around the disc it’s about a 5mm mark all the way around, when you enter the car you can hear the lens struggling to read the disc, I’ve tried cleaning it with a disc cleaner but still the same problem, I’m after a replacement disc
