heard a odd noise and now heater only blowing cold?

Featured Replies

Hello all, so just started the car, left work, as I took the first turn - bit harsher than normal as excited to get out of work! as straightening up, heard a odd, low volume "click"? noise..it sounded almost like it was outside and I assumed at the time it was a small stone flicking up from the wheels and hitting the wheel arch or something...however noticed oon the way home which is quite local to work that the heater was still blowing cold air even thought he temps for engine were around 50% of the way up to "normal" temp (middle of the dial). I thought it was odd and so I got home and noticed steam coming from the front of the car.... switched it off and found a coolant outlet pipe taking the coolant back to the reservoir was hanging off and coolant explosion inside ... I reattached the coolant cable and the clip that held it on is gone so now i need to get another of those but whilst idling with the cable all connected and no visable leaking, I watcehd the engine temp climb to normal temp and tried the heater fan, it was no different from full cold to full hot and this is with engine at normal temp. As I turn the dial around there's no unusual behavior or noises... you can hear something turning inside, almost like a shutter or flap as the sounds of the air coming out change too but still, cold air coming. I coolant level is a little on the lower side...so I'm going to have to top that up tomorrow but what could be the problem? =\

any advice greatly appreciated.

Theres an airlock in the system, it just needs bleeding out and topping up.
