Ford c max diesel key flat eMobrrlizer

Featured Replies

Hi,

Key battery is flat automatic doors not work . Emoblizer kicking in engine will not start .  Need to move car in hurry before get ticket Monday 6am ? Any ideas advice me what to do ? Thanks

If the car is keyfree (start button) then there will be a place to put the key on so the passive immobiliser chip will be detected.
Also there is an emergency key blade hidden in the key to manually unlock the doors.
Battery is easy to source and replace - CR2032 - available from garages , Halfords etc.
If you can post a picture of the type of key you have I can advise more accurately.

How certain are we the key battery is dead, and not the car battery?

Can you check the cars battery voltage under the bonnet?

A good bit of advice there.

The key as in the picture is a standard flip key with a passive ID4C(T5) immobiliser chip, it doesn't rely on the key's battery power to operate.

For the key to stop operating the doors and immobiliser at the same time it either has to be catastrophic damage to the key or as @Micro says the car battery is shot, put it on charge if possible or if you have recovery with home start I'd be ringing them, the battery could be duff from age or you may have a parasitic power drain somewhere in the car, it's surprising how fast this can pull down a battery.

If you can't move the car in time, a politely worded note on the windscreen may find the heart of a decent Parking Officer.

Saying that, the key in that photo is pretty worn (blade and buttons) so would benefit from a new case and possibly circuit board at some point in the future.

To add to my troubles the hand brake is electric and it's on . So can not  move the car  easily .  Would a flat battery on the car affect the key & the cars eMobrrlizer . The first car I flagged down was a very helpful man & even with jump leads no success . What to do next . So need to move the car ?

The handbrake has a manual release, not sure if it can be re-applied afterwards though.

Have bricks or wedges available to stop the car rolling away from you.

If the jumpstart didn't work it may be a deeper electrical fault, is the engine fusebox dry and corrosion free? Battery terminals clean and cables attached tightly?

I think a recovery service or mobile auto electrician are your only courses of action TBH.

The hazard lights are not responding also should they work no matter what ? It's this a clue to the reason the car not starting ?

Ok I charge or replace the battery & will this eMobrrlizer not kick in still ?

If the car has good power then the immobiliser will function correctly.
